Predictions

1. Rusev vs. Mark Henry

I thought long and hard on this one but I finally decided to go with Rusev.

The reason, why I was contemplating on this match for a while, is that a win for Mark Henry would give a sense of satisfaction to the WWE fans. I think, by now most Americans have reached a point where they can’t tolerate Lana’s rants about their homeland any more.  From all the foes that Rusev has faced (Big E and even Jack Swagger), Mark Henry’s the one who plays the patriot card the best. The former Olympian looks really sincere every time he stands up for his country and the audience love it.

However, Henry’s at the end of his career and has nothing to lose while Rusev has everything to lose.  The future of his gimmick is built on the perception of him as unstoppable. If Rusev’s brute strength is undermined by a clean loss to a midcarder, such as Mark Henry, at Night of Champions, his momentum will suffer.  The WWE have invested too much in Rusev to stop now.

I believe that Rusev’s undefeated streak at pay-per-views will continue at Night of Cahmpions.

2. Rand Orton vs. Chris Jericho

It’s pretty much clear to everyone that Jericho is not winning this match but the fight will be amazing.

Recent reports (PWInsider) say that Jericho wants out of the WWE so he can promote his autobiography. The revived feud with Orton can give him just that. Orton’s character has shaken off the shackles of being the Authority’s first Yes-man and he’ll be in the skin of a viper, which fits him so well. This and Jericho’s all-out style will allow for an exciting and brutal match, worthy of being Y2J’s exit from WWE programming for a while.

3. The Usos vs. Stardust and Goldust

The Usos have been great champions but their time to drop the belts has come.

Dusty-Brothers

There is a reason why the Usos have both been “injured”.  This presents an obvious weakness for the heel №1 contenders to target and also allows the Samoan twins to lose at Night of Champions  without taking a hit to their credibility.

Stardust and Goldust’s gimmick has grown drastically in popularity. As the Rhodes brothers, fighting for redemption, they were destined to be short-lived phenomenon. However, as the Cosmic Brothers they are unique and unforgettable.

Their reign as WWE Tag Team Champions will bring a breath of fresh air to the tag team division.

4. Paige vs. AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella

The Divas division needs a new central storyline and Nikki will bring just that by winning the title tonight.

The WWE haven’t started the Bellas feud for nothing. Even Stephanie McMahon took a central part in it. They must see some future in it. The Bellas will move their feud on a different level by mixing the title in the story.

Paige and AJ might both be better wrestlers but they will be too preoccupied with each other to pay attention to Nikki. They’ll probably constantly try to throw her out of the ring, in order to be able to fight keep the fight between the two of them. Paige and AJ will take each other out and Nikki will pick up the victory.

5. Dolph Ziggler vs. the Miz

I go with Ziggler on this one because the feud with Miz is getting repetitive. The only way to end it is for the champ to retain. Otherwise, we’ll have another rematch and another month of Dolph vs. The Miz.

I suppose that Miz’s stunt double -Damien Mizdow, will have something to do with the finish of this match. Miz might blame him for losing, causing a backlash a la Alex Riley. Even if Miz wins by any chance, a feud with a disgruntled Mizdow is on its way.

However, I’m excited to see who Dolph’s new opponent will be.

6. Sheamus vs. Cesaro

It seems like Cesaro will go over Sheamus for the US title.

Although Sheamus has been a work horse as usual, his reign hasn’t brought much attention to the championship. A short feud with Cesaro, ending at Night of Champions, will drag the prestige of the title down. The two superstars have good chemistry in the ring and they could bring much more to the table, given the time to do so.

A rematch and another few weeks of Sheamus vs. Cesaro in their European style of wrestling are coming our way.

7.  Seth Rollins vs TBD

Rollins vs. Reigns promised to be awesome.

However since Roman’s unable to compete, WWE will need a replacement fast or they need to get Rollins off the card altogether.

My bet is on Ambrose to save the day. Still, it’s a shame that Reigns got hurt. Hopefully, he’ll recover soon!

8. Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena

If you’ve read my article about the WWE Heavyweight Championship, you’ll know that in my opinion Lesnar needs to drop the title.

It is controversial. Many (BleacherReport) predict that Lesnar will retain because the WWE has invested too much in him to let him lose his first title defense. However, I still believe that a champion, who doesn’t wrestle on weekly basis, cannot stay a champion for a long time because the WWE Heavyweight Championship cannot be kept off the main televised product.

Also, if you look at the superstars advertised for WWE’s shows in November, you’ll see that Rollins is booked alongside Cena on RAW, while Reigns and Ambrose are listed on Smackdown. It’s just a speculation but my slightly educated guess is that Cena vs.Rollins will be for the WWE Heavyweight Championship after a cash-in.

It is possible that Cena will lose once again tonight and the feud with Lesnar will drag onto Hell in a Cell where Rollins will cash in after having wrapped a feud with Reigns and Ambrose. However, I’d rather see Rollins cash in at Night of Champions, rather than watching another month of Cena vs. Paul Heyman in a verbal war. In the golden words of Mr. William Regal – “This is a wrestling show, not wining show.”
