WWE Slammy Awards 2014 – Categories, Nominees & Personal Picks

It’s time for the Slammy Awards again and it’s time to get voting! Here’s a list of the categories and nominees. I’ll also give you my personal favourites. You tell me who you support!

WWE Tag Team of The Year

  1. Gold & Stardust
  2. The Usos
  3. Los Matadores with El Torito
  4. Slater Gator with Mini Gator
  5. The Miz & Damien Mizdow

WWECS’ PickI voted for the Usos. Gold & Stardust are unique; Miz and Mizdow are funny but the Usos have done the best job as a wrestling tag team throughout the entire year. They’ve had countless stellar performances as WWE Tag Team Champions and their mic work has shown a lot of charisma.

Tell Me You Just Didn’t Say That or Insult of the Year

  1. Nikki tells Brie she wished she died in the womb
  2. Paul Heyman Raps on John Cena
  3. Chris Jericho insults the Authority after Stephanie’s arrest
  4. The Rock Insults Rusev and Lana

WWECS’ Pick:  I pick Nikki’s womb insult. Realistically, there’s nothing worse that she could have possibly said and the implications of Nikki’s insult are far worse than any of the other nominees. Also, since the Bellas seem to be on the same page lately, it’ll be interesting to see them receive this particular Slammy.

Breakout Star of the Year

  1. Rusev with Lana
  2. Roman Reigns
  3. Paige
  4. Dean Ambrose
  5. Seth Rollins

WWECS’ Pick: This was by far, the hardest category to vote for. I’m torn in half between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. Both of them have been amazing. Those are the two brightest stars in the WWE right now. Can’t they share the award?

Hashtag of the Year

  1. #OccupyRAW
  2. #RKOOuttaNowhere
  3. #MoscowMooseKnuckle
  4. #EatSleepSuplexRepeat
  5. #NineNinetyNine

WWECS’ Pick:   The internet just exploded with RKOs and it came out of nowhere. Randy Orton wins this one hands down. Were the other four even a thing?

Double-Cross of the Year

  1. The Authority turns on Randy Orton
  2. Seth Rollins betrays the Shield and joins the Authority
  3. Nikki Bella betrays her twin sister Brie Bella
  4. Mark Henry turns on his friend, Big Show

WWECS’ Pick: There is no other betrayal like Seth Rollins’. Without a doubt, the chair shot heard around the world deserves a Slammy. Why are the other three even trying?

Fan Participation Award

  1. “You Sold Out” – Seth Rollins
  2. “Nine Ninety-Nine” – WWE Network
  3. “We The People” – Jack Swagger
  4. “I’m Afraid I’ve Got Some Bad News For You” – Bad News Barret
  5. “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands” – Bray Wyatt

WWECS’ Pick: Again, didn’t you hear the crowd the night Seth betrayed the Shield? The “YOU SOLD OUT” chants have been the most consistent and passion-filled reaction received, since Rollins joined the Authority. I’m going with Rollins once again.

NXT Superstar of the Year

  1. Adrian Neville
  2. Sami Zayn
  3. Tyler Breeze
  4. The Ascension

WWECS’ Pick: That’s a hard one. Neville has the most impressive finisher on the NXT roster and he’s the NXT champion but Sami Zayn connects better with the fans. The way things are at the moment, Sami will win this one.

Anti – Gravity Moment of The Year

  1. Seth Rollins dives off the balcony at Payback
  2. Adrian Neville’s Red Arrow
  3. Dean Ambrose dives onto lumberjacks at Summer Slam
  4. Kofi Kingston in the Royal Rumble Match

WWECS’ Pick: I’m a huge Ambrose fan but if he wins this one it will be based only on his popularity and not on the move itself. Technically,  Adrian Neville’ Red Arrow is the best move out of all nominated and is simply beautiful. But I vote for Seth Rollins again because the moment he jumped off that balcony I stopped breathing for a few seconds. It was an image I’ll never forget.

Best Actor

  1. The Miz
  2. Batista
  3. The Rock
  4. Mizdow

WWECS’ Pick:  You won’t often here me say this but I feel sorry for the Miz. When Mizdow picks up that Slammy Miz’ night will be ruined, poor guy! I’ll send a sympathy vote for the Miz but Mizdow’s totally winning it.

Faction of The Year

  1. The Authority
  2. The Wyatt Family
  3. The Shield
  4. The Rosebuds

WWECS’ Pick: First of all, since when are the Rosebuds a faction!? Second, THE SHIELD! Without a doubt, the Shield are the best faction of this year, last year and possibly of all time. They had something special. That brotherly bond to death made them my personal favourite. Also, I’d like to see the three of them come out to receive a Slammy together! That should be fun!

Animal of The Year

  1. Gator
  2. Torito
  3. The Bunny
  4. Grumpy Cat

WWECS’ Pick: Why does this category even exist? The WWE’s idea of fun baffles me sometimes. Anyway, the Bunny will win this one.

Best Couple of The Year

  1. Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella
  2. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon
  3. Jimmy Uso & Naomi
  4. Tyson Kidd and Natalya

WWECS’ Pick:  WWE’s power couple all the way! Triple H and Stephanie have had the most exposure as a couple this year. They are the centre of the Authority and the Authority was what the WWE revolved around fro the largest part of the year, so for me, Hunter and Stephanie are the worthy winners.

Twitter Handle or Social Champion

  1. @HEELZiggler (Dolph Ziggler)
  2. @JohnCena (JohnCena)
  3. @ZackRyder (Zack Ryder)
  4. @Ryback22 (Ryback)
  5. @Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie)
  6. @RealPaigeWWE (Paige)

WWECS’ Pick: From what I’ve seen on twitter Ziggler is the man! He has 1.45 million followers and he always interacts with them. Also, the internet adores the Show Off. He’s getting a Slammy this year.

Rivalry of the Year

  1. The Shield vs. Evolution
  2. Daniel Bryan vs. The Authority
  3. Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
  4. Rusev vs. The USA
  5. Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose

WWECS’ Pick: Before I even saw the nominees I knew that the winner would be Rollins vs. Ambrose. This feud defined the year. The story and the chemistry between those two was incredible. I don’t think anyone could argue with that.

Raw Guest Star of the Year

  1. Larry the Cable Guy
  2. Jerry Springer
  3. Kevin Hart
  4. Hugh Jackman
  5. Betty White

WWECS’ Pick: I pick Jerry Springer because he got knocked out by the Bellas. This was the worst attempt at reconciliation ever.
