Miz TV w./ Naomi
Naomi tried to resist Miz’s charm offence. She said he was all words, so the A-lister gave her a championship match.
The Usos came out and chased off Miz & Mizdow but this only strengthened Miz’s argument.
I have to give it to the Miz – his shameless flattery is endless. His compliments are so buttered up that I feel dirty listening to them. It’s not surprising that Jimmy Uso gets wound up every time.
Tyson Kidd & Cesaro vs. New Day
Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston represented the New Day. This time the audience was much more supportive than on Raw.
Tyson Kidd and Cesaro did a good job of being a heel team. They kept Kofi in the ring for almost the whole entirety of the match. The Swiss Superman did the Cesaro Swing, which is a rare sight these days. Kidd added a double team twist to the move, which looked awesome.
Xavier Woods was the hot tag, which is something that doesn’t happen to him often. He was fired up and did a nice exchange with Tyson Kidd before he and Kofi picked up the win for the New Day.
Cesaro and Tyson Kidd are a nice addition to the tag team division. Since there’re no midcard titles available for grabs at the moment, may be it is best for them to give a shot at the tag team titles.
I’m torn when it comes to the New Day. On one hand, I feel inclined to root for them since I can see that all three guys are fully invested in their gimmick and try really hard to work with it. On the other hand, however, I could write an article on “Everything Wrong With the New Day Gimmick”. I think I might actually do that soon.
Erick Rowan/ Paige/ Titus O’Neil
That was a strange segment. Erick Rowan was recreating legendary chess games for Paige when they got interrupted by Titus O’Neil, who was trying hard to look as smart as Rowan but failed miserably.
I don’t even know where to begin. This segment opens so many questions. Why is Paige hanging around with Erick Rowan. Why is Titus picking up a fight with Rowan if, Big Show’s already feuding with him. Does either guy have anything for Paige? This is confusing.
Miz / Naomi
Naomi found Miz backstage and apologized to him on Jimmy’s behalf. It’s the first time Naomi approaches the Miz on her own. The A-lister’s plan is progressing well.
Paige vs. Emma
The crowd last night was nice. I hadn’t heard strong synchronized LET’S GO EMMA/ LET’S GO PAIGE chants in a while.
The two women produced a good match. Nothing exceptional but it was still better than the Divas Title match at TLC.
The only thing that annoys me are the butt slaps. It’s not funny and it’s not effective. Why? Just why?!
Paige won with the PTO.
It’s been so long since the last time Paige made someone tap out that I struggled for a moment to remember the name of her submission move.
Kane vs. Erick Rowan
Titus O’Neil was on commentary for this match and didn’t stop making jealous comments about Rowan’s intelligence. Titus didn’t question Rowan’s skills, just his smarts. And here I ask again: Why?! This is a wrestling promotion. Why is Titus jealous of Rowan’s intelligence? Aren’t wrestlers supposed to fight over titles and prestige as fighters?
Kane just fights anybody and everybody these days. He doesn’t need a feud. He’s just an angry guy. And his facial expression show such boredom – it looks as if he’s asked to clean the dishes daily, not to participate in matches.
Erick Rowan showcased his strength. He did perform some power moves on Kane but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that he “manhandled” Kane, as the announce team tried to make it sound.
I was surprised to see Kane win in the end. He chokeslammed Rowan and pinned him fair and square. The way Rowan is booked baffles me. Why the losing streak?
Anyway, I’m more interested in the Titus/Paige/Rowan story. At this point I don’t even know whether it’s a one off thing that will be dropped by next week or if it’s a legit storyline about to happen. I’ll give it a show or two to see how it goes.
