– 30-Man Royal Rumble Match
The New Day vs. Tyson Kidd, Cesaro & Adam Rose
It’s a pre-show match. It won’t be long or very exciting. I expect Kidd & Cesaro to deliver the best moves while Adam Rose takes the pin.
Neither team has any momentum but the New Day are at least some sort of a team, so the WWE will try to make them look somewhat credible by giving them a win here.
The New Age Outlaws vs. The Ascension
The whole anti-legends gimmick is a terrible mistake but since the WWE seems determined to keep going with it, the Ascension must get the best out of this mess.
A match against the New Age Outlaws will be clumsy, slow and won’t last long. I believe that legends should remain out of the ring to keep their legendary status. No one remains in the same shape as they were in their 20s. Knowing when to pull back is a skill.
This won’t be nice to watch and I only hope that the Ascension will come out as winners.
The Usos vs. Damien Mizdow and The Miz
The Hollywood duo will lose. Miz will mistreat & abuse Mizdow for it, although probably it wouldn’t have been his fault. Then in the Rumble match one will eliminate the other. Most likely Mizdow will eliminate the Miz. That will be the end of Miz & Mizdow.
We also need the Usos as champions because all other teams are heel and we need a face champion to start a rivalry.
Paige and Natalya vs. The Bella Twins
A prediction on this match won’t be a well-thought bet but complete guesswork. That’s due to the fact that there’s no real storyline to back up the match. The WWE did nothing to make us care about the match and I don’t even know who I’m supposed to cheer for. I won’t be surprised if Tyson Kidd is dragged out at ringside and gets more attention than the match itself.
For the sake of saying something, I’ll go with The Bella Twins. Paige and Natalya have more issues in the team and are more likely to quarrel, leading to a loss.
Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
Let’s be honest, I’ve read many bloggers trying to sounds smart about this and make educated guess but we are all really shooting in the dark. The WWE has done a very good job at keeping the outcome of this match unpredictable.
We could have anything from Lesnar turning face, through Heyman switching clients, to Sting screwing up Seth Rollins and Cena becoming a champion again.
I think we all agree that Cena winning is the worst possible outcome. Imagine the rivalries that will follow… Then again, no one will ever be surprised if Cena wins the big one once again “against all odds”.
My personal opinion is that Seth Rollins should leave the Royal Rumble as the new WHC, one way or another. However, if the WWE wants to make things unpredictable and play a Lesnar face turn with the Beast going Berserk and ditching Paul Heyman for the entire road to WM when his contract expires, go for it.
The one thing that must not happen is Rollins losing the match and the MITB briefcase at the same time. If Sting comes in and that happens as rumored, I want Rollins to win the Royal Rumble match and prove that there is no future without him, regardless of what the Authority’s doing. Actually this will make a lot of sense. If Rollins loses his MITB because of the Authority’s issues and then goes out and wins the Royal Rumble on his own, it will give him an insane amount of credibility and a reason to abort the sinking ship that the Authority is, perhaps to join Paul Heyman.
30-Man Royal Rumble Match
It’s the Royal Rumble, so let’s have fun with it! I’ll disregard the last paragraph on the Triple Threat Match and I’ll give you four options for a winner:
The One We All Expect
There’s no pick more predictable than Roman Reigns. The idea has been all over the internet for a long time now. The plan would be to give Roman a Wrestle Mania win and the legendary face push, everyone’s been talking about.
Regardless of who holds the title at Mania – Cena, Lesnar or Rollins, objectively, Reigns will make a good opponent. He’s supposed to dethrone Cena from the top face spot, which will make for some good storytelling.
Whether fans support it or not, Reigns is presented as strong enough for the audience to believe he can beat Lesnar.
And as for Seth Rollins, their history has the feud set up already.
I personally wouldn’t mind seeing how the plans for Reigns unfolding but if the WWE, by any chance, cares about the IWC rants or about keeping the Rumble unpredictable, the plans for Roman may change. I think that would be too harsh but just in case, I’ll give you some other possible winners.
The “Surprise” Winner, We All Could See Coming
Would you be surprised if Orton comes at #29 and wins the Rumble? I wouldn’t either.
The Viper would come “outta nowhere” in the sense of “he hasn’t been around long enough for fans to forget about him” but he’s still a very reasonable choice for a winner.
The Legend Killer facing the One in 21 to 1 seems like a good match but it feels a bit outdated.
Orton had issues with Seth Rollins over the attention of Triple H, so this could also serve as a feud boost.
Do we dare talk about Orton vs. Cena at WM31? UGHH…
Looking at the possible feuds, coming out of this, I’d pick Reigns over Orton, unless Rollins is the champion. Then either man would do.
The Dark Horse
I’d love to say Dean Ambrose here, since it’s no secret he’s been a favourite of mine long before the Shield or even the WWE. However with the treatment he gets, it won’t be him. Also, he’s more a MITB guy, rather than a Royal Rumble guy.
So the real dark horse is Bray Wyatt. Listening to his promos, he has a plan. Why not headlining WM31?
The problem would be the booking afterwards. I don’t see Wyatt vs. Lesnar happening. Neither man is a versatile enough wrestler to carry the other one. The match will look clumsy.
Wyatt vs Cena we’ve already seen, so we go back to Seth Rollins. Then again, to have that feud, you’d have to turn one of them face. Although Rollins would do a great face, he’s done too much to become a top heel to drop it for a rivalry against Wyatt. Bray Wyatt, on the other hand, could pull of a tweener, who tries to take down the self-proclaimed Future. The danger is that a large portion of the fans might still stick with Rollins in this scenario and the WWE doesn’t approve of well-liked heels.
The BatS*it Crazy
Imagine Roman Reigns throwing Randy Orton over the top rope in a dramatic last two standoff. Roman climbs the top rope to celebrate the win but then Bo Dallas, who’s been hiding under the ring the entire time, climbs out, pushes him from behind, Reigns loses balance and falls over the ropes, failing to win the Rumble for a second year in a row.
The show ends with Bo Dallas circling around the ring, wet hair swinging, thumbs up in the air, smile, stretched across the face in what seems to be an endless victory lap….
