The WWE Is Right To Keep Daniel Bryan Out of The WrestleMania 31 Main Event

There’s a rumour circulating the IWC that the WWE will not be swayed this year – Daniel Bryan will not get a push and will not get added to the WrestleMania 31 main event, regardless of how much the fans cheer for him.

The talks about Bryan not being groomed for a WHC at Mania are widely interpreted as Bryan not being perceived as a top star material. This got the WWE Universe rallying. However, if we look at things objectively, inserting Bryan in the WrestleMania main event would be a mistake, regardless of the WWE’s affinity or lack of such towards him. When the Authority came back in power, many fans were outraged, complaining that they don’t want to see 2014 Version 2.0. Yet, those same fans protest once again when the WWE refuses to do a repeat of the Road to WrestleMania 2014. As much as we like Daniel Bryan, we can’t close our eyes to the fact that giving him a second WresleMania moment in a row, using the exact same underdog storyline, will be a bad business move.

Nowadays, people seem to think that unless a certain superstar holds the WHC, he becomes misused, irrelevant and overall miserable. The reality is that there’s only one champion in dozens of superstars and we can’t have all our favourites, holding a title at the same time, all the time. It was Bryan’s time last year, it will probably be Seth Rollins’ time this year and that is fine. Daniel Bryan is an amazing in-ring performer, he’s loved by the WWE Universe and he is perfectly capable of staying in the spotlight, without necessarily feuding for the WHC.

The current plan for Bryan at Wrestle Mania seems to be facing Dolph Ziggler. The situation hasn’t been addressed on TV yet but Ziggler invited Bryan to a fight on Twitter:

It’s being said that this match will open WrestleMania 31 and if it does, it will be an amazing beginning. It doesn’t matter if it’s a face vs. face match or one of them will turn heel for whatever reasons, we’ll see two incredible performers colliding in the ring. And what if there’s no title, standing between them? They’ll steal the show anyway.

Maybe next year Ziggler vs. Bryan will headline WrestleMania and the WWE Universe will go wild. But we can’t have that this year. It just won’t make sense. We can’t have Daniel Bryan vs. The Authority either. No one will actually like it if it happened. Daniel Bryan needs a fresh start and a new rival that will bring out the best of him.  If that rival happens to be Dolph Ziggler, let’s be it. This feuds is guaranteed to deliver.

    • I’m not saying it’s not possible for a superstar to main event two WMs in a row. However, the storyline must change to keep the show and the characters entertaining. You can’t do the same thing two consecutive years and expect people to be equally excited both times.
