Cesaro def. Seth Rollins
Rollins open the show once again and once again the crowd was made to listen to one of his lengthy pieces of boasting. When the Swiss Superman came out to interrupt the World Champ, he couldn’t have been more welcome.
The match started surprisingly quickly. Rollins didn’t even try to doge it. However, Kevin Owens was there from the very beginning and there was no doubt that he was going to cause a DQ sooner or later. When he did, he and Rollins jumped Cesaro 2on1.
Cesaro is getting a well-deserved push. He and Kevin Owens will have one of the best matches at the PPV.
Los Matadores & Lucha Dragons def. New Day & Ascension
The New Day wanted this match in order to beat both luchadore teams and prove that they were best fit to be the #1 contenders.
Things didn’t work out that well. Obviously, the fall was taken by Viktor of the Ascension. The WWE, for some unexplained reasons, doesn’t want to give the Ascension a chance and so they remain jobbers.
I don’t know if I should be happy that more teams are getting TV time or I should be frustrated over the lack of direction in the division. There’s only one team with personality on the roster and it’s the New Day.
I’m disappointed with PTP as champs. They do good title defenses, I’ll give them that but on the regular shows they do nothing. They try to show personality by wearing suits and sunglasses inside, while sitting on commentary. I don’t see how this is a positive image in any way.
After the long explanatory speech on Monday, Harper and Wyatt had a shorter promo on Reigns. The question asked was whether Ambrose was willing to give his life for Reigns.
I think the answer is clear. It has been tested. However, I want to know where Roman Reigns is, why he’s not responding and why he and Ambrose have no answer to the Wyatt’s promos. This feud is terribly one-sided.
Rusev def. Jack Swagger
What on earth is the WWE doing with Rusev?! Following the ridiculous dead fish situation on RAW, Rusev and Summer were embarrassed once again on SmackDown.
The match vs. Swagger was much longer than what I expected. The outcome was the same, however, after the Bulgaroan Brute locked the Accolade.
Then again, Rsuev can’t be allowed to look good apparently, so instead of sharing a steamy moment with Summer, he got caught in the ankle lock and closed the night in embarrassment.
I’m strongly against the fact that the WWE is building Lana by destroying Rusev. Why can’t both of them have careers at the same time? Rusev’s situation is just pathetic now.
Stardust def. R-Truth
That match, unlike the previous one, was even shorter than predicted. Stardust won so quickly that I barely noticed there was a match.
After the fight was over, Stardust attacked Truth, luring Neville to come out to the rescue.
Stardust ended up running away but I think he got what he was looking for. He got Neville to play superhero. However, it would have been better if Starsut didn’t have to overact to compensate for Neville’s lack of character.
Cesaro & Dean Ambrose def. Seth Rollins & Kevin Owens
I wouldn’t complain seeing matches like this one more often. The combination of talent was insane. Also, the Ambrose vs. Rollins feud is simply forever-lasting. It will always work, no matter the circumstances.
Ambrose carried the bulk of the match in a bad position. When Cesaro came in at the end ,it was memorable. He saved Ambrose from a pop up power bomb while Ambrose was already flying down for the catch. Perfect timing!
Ambrose and Cesaro were standing tall at the end of the night. It was a feel good moment. However, it doesn’t answer the question why the Wyatts aren’t targeting Ambrose or why Reigns hasn’t been around for the last two weeks.
