NXT Women’s Championship Contract Signing
This contract signing provided a textbook face/heel interaction. Bayley was nice and thanked the crowd. Sasha praised herself and trashed the audience. All of that done while paying attention to the reactions and playing with them. If someone wants to learn the basics fo wrestling storytelling, direct them to this segment.
It was good that Bayley took the initiative and attacked Sasha. It’s very likely that the title will change hands, since the Boss has been called up ,so Bayley needs to establish the boundaries of her “niceness” . A champion needs to be a respected fighter and when respect is not given it should be taken by force.
Tyler Breeze def. ???
This unnamed local competitor tried to pull a sneaky roll-up on The Gorgeous One but Prince Pretty took him out with a Supermodel Kick. After the match Breeze put a mask on the poor guy’s face and cut a promo on Thunder Liger.
Props to Breeze for building this feud on his own. He has single-handedly delivered the entire story. All Jushin has brought to the table until now is his giant name that precedes him. On top of that, Prince Pretty will most probably lose. At least, he gets to wrestle a legend.
The Hype Bros & Enzo & Big Cass def. ????
The Hype Bros and Enzo Amore/Big Cass combo is, how do I put this, difficult to stay unnoticed, mostly because they are all so loud. It can’t be denied that these four bring extreme levels of energy in the ring.
Big Cass is the one guy you cannot deny when he gets between the ropes. He destroys anyone in his path.
Next week these four will face Gable& Jordan and Dawson & Dash. The heels weren’t too impressed with this victory over a few local jobbers, which is quite understandable. However, Gable got them to say his name and that’s a real victory.
It’s a weird 4-men feud but I’m curious to see where it goes. There’s plenty of personality in the mix, so it might get interesting.
Samoa Joe def. Steve Cutler
Samoa Joe destroyed Steve Cutler very quickly and was on his way to the back when Baron Corbin attacked him. Then the Lone Wolf beat him through the crowd, tossed him in the ring and hit the End of Days in about 10 seconds from getting between the ropes.
It was an impressive entry by Baron Corbin. I absolutely want him to win on Saturday. The WWE’s trying to build his character but his rise needs to be signified by a big victory. Corbin’s got a strange aura. He has a notable presence. However, his mic skills need a lot of improvement. If he manages to master that, he’ll have a bright future.
Blake & Murphy def. Fulton & Dawkins
Blake and Murphy are a good team. I’ve always liked them. They work very well together and individually. However, they needed Alexa Bliss to become real heels. The two of them, on their own, are made to be goofy faces.
Alexa is carrying the feud against the Vaudevillains. The Gentlemen wanted to make an announcement, regarding Bliss at Takeover but she didn’t allow them to. She slapped them twice each and they had to leave.
It seems like Gotch and English will bring in some help. I just wonder who that could be. Perhaps, someone new. Keeping the suspense until the actual show was a good call.
Kevin Owens/ Finn Balor
Owens is an amazing speaker. He can cut an outstanding promo on just about anyone, even the audience. He simply decimated the Full Sail crowd in his speech. Then he moved on to Finn Balor and things got serious very quickly.
Finn didn’t talk. He came, he fought and chased Owens away. This brought strange intensity in the building. The tension became almost tangible. It definitely made me want to see Owens and Balor clash in Brooklyn.
