Baron Corbin & Rhyno def. The Ascension
This was a complete injustice. Konnor and Viktor deserved to win. The entire match was in favour of the Ascension. Konnor and Viktor came back home even for a night only and they took the most of it. The crowd loved them. It was sad to be reminded how great they are as a team, knowing how badly they are treated on the main roster.
On the other hand, the Ascension are on the main roster. The victory went to the guys who were there to stay, so I suppose there is some reason to this match.
Alexa Bliss def. Blue Pants
This match was the complete opposite. Here retribution was granted. Alexa Bliss destroyed Blue Pants and it was fair because Bliss is a tremendous wrestler, while Blue Pants is not there yet.
I’m impressed by Alexa’s intensity. She was fierce. That in-ring presence will take her far.
Tyler Breeze was nagging Regal about finding him a partner for the tournament, so Regal gave him Bull Dempsey. I can tell you from now that Bull will lose the match and Breeze will attack him afterwards. The focus will be on the new guys. Their names sound Italian and they seem to have style. We’ll see next week.
Apollo Crews def. Martin Stone
This was another short and unimpressive match. Apollo Crews shows some flashes of excellence here and there and I don’t doubt his skills at all but his opponents are so easy to beat that he can’t really display his full potential. I’m waiting for something more substantial to happen with Apollo.
Eva Marie def. Billy Kay
I was going to praise Eva generously here. She’s improved visibly. She feels much more comfortable in the ring, she can tell a story between the ropes now.
However, Eva screwed badly last night. She was supposed to kick out in the last second but she didn’t and the ref just stopped counting. This is why the Full Sail crowd booed her out of the building. She did not manage to kick out. The announce team tried to play it as a last minute survival but I’m convinced it was a botch.
Jason Jordan & Chad Gable def. Neville & Solomon Crowe
Jordan and Gable have gelled well together. I like them as team. Jordan on his own also shined yesterday. He displayed extraordinary strength on two occasions.
Neville was also exceptional. When he starts moving in the ring, with the speed he develops, I completely forget how bad he is on the mic. Neville’s wrestling is mesmerizing.
Solomon Crowe, however, was booked too weak. Before the match he did a backstage interview with Neville and Crowe’s charisma overtook the entire segment. In the match, though, he was made to look like the weak link. Crowe’s not being used correctly. He can do so much more and the crowd loves him. I don’t understand why he’s so underused.
