WWE NXT – Review, Highlights & Analysis From 09/09/2015

Carmella def. Peyton Royce

Peyton Royce might be one of the worst diva’s names ever. It’s not memorable and sounds like a car brand. Otherwise, Peyton was trying a bit too hard to look good and it made her look clumsy at times. However, she did well overall, no doubt.

I have to give credit to Carmella. She has improved since coming to NXT. The way she set up her submission move at the end was impressive.

Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa def. Tyler Breeze & Bull Dempsey

The match started slowly. There was a bit too much showing-off of character on the side of our NXT stars. The crowd was getting impatient.

The match was alright but we only saw hints of what Gargano and Ciampa are capable off. The underdog newcomer gimmick was holding them back a bit. However, I can’t wait to see Gargano in the ring when he’s in full motion.

The ending wasn’t surprising. I called it last week. Prince Pretty and Bull were meant to feud. The entire weight-loss storyline stemmed from a match between the two.

Dana Brooke def. Billie Kay

Dana Brooke delivered an interesting promo. She’s desperately trying to run away from the incapable plastic doll gimmick. Also, Emma wasn’t around. Separating them is a good move. Emma deserves attention on her own.

Following that promo, it wasn’t a surprise that Dana won. If she’s to go after the title, which she is, Dana needs to build momentum.

As for Billie Kay, she isn’t displaying a larger than life persona from the get go. She’ll probably build some character later on but she’ll be a slow starter.

Finn Balor & Samoa Joe def. The Lucha Dragons

This was a great match. Finn Balor probably carried more than half of it on his own. Samoa Joe only came in at the end to demolish the Lucha Dragons.

Kalisto is ever so impressive. He moves incredibly in the ring and he handles much bigger opponents without getting phased even a little. In the promo they cut with Sin Cara, Kalisto was the English translator. He should be given more mic time.

Balor and Joe continue in the tournament. I would imagine that the NXT Champ wouldn’t lose in the first round. Too much star power in this duo.
