WWE SmackDown – Review, Highlights and Analysis From 17/09/2015

Seth Rollins/ Sheamus

I like the mini Rollins vs. Sheamus feud. It’s a strange one because they are both heel but the crowd is ready to cheer for either man. Still, I’d guess Rollins would be the fan favourite if one had to be picked.

The Celtic Warrior is gaining back some respect, despite the fact the he’s getting progressively more affected by the YOU LOOK STUPID chants. At least now Sheamus feels like a real threat, like a MITB contract holder’s supposed to.

Naomi and Sasha Banks def. Paige & Becky Lynch

It was nice to see Becky and Naomi wrestle for a change. I’ve been missing Becky’s unorthodox style and Lita-esque energy.

Paige lost. Again. Sasha Banks caused a distraction and the presence of PCB there couldn’t change that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the set up for a Paige heel turn. She’s building up frustration and she’ll soon need to vent it out. Turning on Charlotte for the title would be a good way to do that.

Cosmic Wasteland

The Cosmic Wasteland will be facing Neville and the Lucha Dragons at the NoC Kick Off. It’s a meaningless match, which is a shame, knowing that Stardust and the Ascenison could have been a great new stable.

What point is there in Cody’s mad promos if he never gets recognition for them? Konnor and Viktor are nothing more than his henchmen. This doesn’t look very intimidating.

Kofi Kingston def. D-Von Duddley

The New Day had a rally to save the planet and it was longer than the match. I’m starting to worry that this will wear out quickly but the WWE won’t realize it and it will hurt the New Day. Then again, I couldn’t get over the brilliant absurdity of Kofi saying “You gotta respect yo momma”” in respect to Mother Nature.

The match itself was way too short. It had barely started when the New Day caused some distractions outside the ring and Kofi took advantage for a quick roll-up.

Unfortunately, NoC doesn’t seem very promising for the New Day. I’d be surprised if they retain.

Big Show def. Cesaro

Cesaro didn’t seem fazed by the Big Show’s size. The Swiss Superman has counters that you wouldn’t even know existed. Being able to demonstrate strength in a match against the Big Show, was impressive in its own right.

However, Big Show won. I don’t know why the WWE insist on booking Cesaro for a losing streak. He could be so over right now.

What I’m alsi curious about is what the Miz is trying to get from the Big Show. What was that contract for? Or was it a script? Maybe this will be the return of MizShow/ShowMiz?

Kevin Owens def. Dolph Ziggler

Kevin Owens beat Ziggler badly. Add Owens’in-ring skills to Dolph’s selling abilities and you can imagine the spectacle that this match was.

Ryback rushed in to save Ziggler and caused a DQ. Owens was still victorious, which I hope is a little bit of foreshadowing for Sunday.

Dolph claimed to want to end the love drama but then he dropped a typical womanizer line and got Summer drooling all over him. Ziggler’s character is a complete Casanova.

The BellaBration

Nikki wanted to have her big celebration with Kanye and Kim but in reality on one turned up. On top of that, Adam Rose told her straight up that her party sucked and PCB made fun of her. As a result, Nikki threw her cake and it landed on Brie and Foxy.

The WWE is already treating Nikki as if she’s lost the title. The segment made her look weak and insignificant. Almost like Vicky Guererro.

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose def. Seth Rollins and Sheamus

The main rivalry in this match was between Rollins and Sheamus. Seth found it hilarious every time Sheamus was getting wound up by the audience.

Sheamus wanted to ditch Rollins but the champ tricked him into tagging in by stealing his MITB contract, which led to a win for Reigns and Ambrose.

It was smart because the heel team lost without hurting either member’s momentum.

After the match, the Wyatt Family aired a package devoted to the destruction caused by Braun Strowman. Bray tried to intimidate Roman, Dean and anyone who’d join them. Yet, I think the Wyatts will lose on Sunday.
