Sami Zayn def. Adam Rose
Adam Rose came out on his own theme and not on the Social Outcasts’. It was obvious that he was there only to give Sami someone to beat, in order to gain momentum. However, for someone who was watching NXT for the first time, it wouldn’t seem like that. Rose gave a more than decent performance. He dominated Sami Zayn and led the action. It’s nice to see matches where a good show is put on, despite the predictability of the outcome.
It might be my own personal impression only but Sami feels a bit uncertain in the ring. It comes off as if he’s holding back. I hate to say it but the ring rust people always talk about, I see it on Sami Zayn. Having said that, I’m certain that he’ll get over it quickly and that he’ll get back in the game in no time.
Apollo Crews def. Tye Dillinger
The winner of this match was also predictable. Then again, both superstars shone last night. Tye gets a very promising reception form the crowd. His Perfect 10 gimmick is working and he’s making the most of it with loads of showmanship throughout the fight. Sadly, I don’t see him getting a big break any time soon.
Apollo Crews demonstrated his inhuman strength, as usual, and inserted himself into the title picture. It was nice, for a change, to see someone who wants to earn his spot, instead of simply demanding it. The only problem is that we have way too many people chasing after this belt now. It’s going to get harder to book the feud.
Baron Corbin def. Richard Swann
Swann is good, really, really good. He was in to job to Corbin but made such an impression with his agility that his name will be on many’s radar now. I expect to see great things from him in the near future. Good job!
As for Baron Corbin, I’m glad he had a real match, instead of his 20 sec matches. He looked absolutely dominant. He tossed Swann around like it’s no big deal. And I just loved the way he hit the End of Days. This finisher can come out of nowhere with all the momentum. The only thing Baron lacks is mic skills. It just doesn’t come naturally to him, which is a bit of a shame because he’s a marvelous heel otherwise.
Bayley & Carmella def. Emma & Alexa Bliss
The WWE’s doing a good job at building Carmella. Since Bayley got attacked before the match, she could afford to take a back seat without losing credibility. At the same time, Carmella had her opportunity to shine and she took it.
The heel team worked well. Alexa took the fall and it might be connected to her earlier talk with Blake and Murphy. She told them off for “embarrassing her” in London with their loss. She was going to show them how it’s done, yet she tapped out. If she keeps being so rude to them, we might see a break-up very soon.
Samoa Joe def. Johnny Gargano
I wanted to see more of Gargano. His style truly is unique and it’s totally up my street. We got to witness flashes of it but the match wasn’t nearly long enough and it was mostly Samoa Joe focused, which I can understand, knowing that Joe is pitching for a championship spot.
Joe was pure dominance. He showed no emotion. He just methodically broke his opponent bit by bit. Finn will have two destructive heel rivals to worry about.
