WWE NXT – Review, Highlights & Analysis From 27/04/2016

Can the most hated redhead in NXT defeat the champ – Asuka? Who’s the baddest tag team on NXT right now? How’s Carmella doing on her own and can Shinsuke make the Drifter drift away? Let’s talk NXT!

Asuka def. Eva Marie

We all know where the crowd stood on that one. The heat Eva gets is unreal and that’s exactly what’s going to keep her on the WWE’s radar.

In all fairness, the Red Queen has improved. She’s still far off some of the other women on the roster but she’s far, far better than what she used to be. Granted, the match was slower than what we’re used to seeing from Asuka and that was only for Eva to manage to keep up. The Red Queen will need to work A LOT on her speed.

The whole Nia Jax story is slightly confusing. The way the story’s been written, it’s hard to tell who’s going to end up getting the push – Eva or Nia. Usually, the henchmen don’t get opportunities but in this case, Nia seems to stand on her own.

Samoa Joe – New Champion

The WWE addressed Samoa Joe’s victory over Finn Balor. I doubt that there still was anyone out there who didn’t know but the company simply had to do it.

The Revival def. Matt Lee & Jeff Parker

The Revival had to regain some momentum. They were given some jobbers to lash out on and get some attention. Dash and Dawson still seem to be American Alpha’s greatest competition.

I have to give it to Matt Lee. He and his partner were even lucky to get their names announced, instead of getting billed as “Local Competitors”. However, Lee made the most of it. He got the crowd engaged and got himself some chants. That’s how you make an impression!

The Hype Bros def. Blake & Murphy

Blake and Murphy seem to have split from Alexa Bliss. I think it’s a good thing. They had become too much of her puppies rather than actual, credible wrestlers.

The Hype Bros got the victory but that hardly offsets what happened to Zack Ryder on the main roster.

The Revival took the opportunity to cement themselves as the top heel team on NXT by destroying the Hype Bros. Unless we see some new faces coming, there’s no one who can replace Dash and Dawson in their position as NXT’s most vicious villains.

Carmella def. Aliyah

I have nothing against Carmella but having her try to emulate Enzo’s entrance just doesn’t work. Her mic work is average and compared to the original it’s absolutely cringe-worthy. She should consider changing this entrance.

Earlier on, I said that Eva has improved but then I watched this match and I realized that Aliyah, who just had her first solo match on NXT TV is a million times more comfortable than Eva in the ring. That’s the problem with Eva, she just has no talent, no matter how much she improves.

Carmella is being built as one of the top divas on NXT.She is a veteran, compared to most and she deserves that recognition. However, she’ll have to work hard to escape the shadow of Enzo and Cass.

Shinsuke Nakamura def. Elias Samson

We all knew the Drifter had no chance. The only question was how long it was going to take. Then again, the match was long enough for the crowd to give Samson some hate. The DRIFT AWAY chants are getting stronger and that’s a good thing. Heels need heat.

Shinsuke Nakamura is truly impressive. I’ve never seen a competitor that relaxed in the ring. He moves like no other. Brilliant addition to the roster!
