The tag team action on NXT shakes up the scene again, as Blake and Murphy hit a breaking point. Carmella, on the other hand, is steadily building her way to the top of the Women’s Division. Also, Nia Jax and Bayley square off once more, this time with a different outcome. Let’s talk NXT!
Nakamura & Aries def. Blake & Murphy
There was a danger to Austin Aries, picking Shinsuke Nakamura as his partner. The storyline is that Austin feels ignored but he chooses to share the ring with the new guy, who actually got all the spotlight. Especially, knowing how Nakamura doesn’t give a damn about anyone or anything, this pairing automatically became a ticking time bomb.
Nakamura and Airies managed to stay on the same page and win but I doubt we’ve seen the last of them. If they ever get to tag again, it will definitely result in a feud. Notice that Nakamura ignored Austin’s request for a tag. The spotlight was on Shinsuke again, as he took the pin.
This match was about the demise of Blake and Murphy’s relationship with Alexa Bliss. There was no way they were ever going to win. What I didn’t see coming was Blake, walking out on Murphy after the match. Having Alexa solo is a good idea but breaking up Blake and Murphy is not. They work so well together.
Carmella def. Peyton Royce
We finally got to find out why Peyton Royce is carrying this fake flower to the ring. She’s calling herself the “Venus Fly Trap” and is pretty much trying to rip off Poison Ivy’s villain vibe. Too bad that the actual venus fly trap looks nothing like the flower’s she’s carrying and I can’t get over the fact that it’s a plastic flower.
Carmella’s back on track. Her goal now is to prove that she didn’t go to the main roster with Enzo and Cass not because she isn’t good enough, but because she deserves to be NXT Champ before she leaves.
Ciampa & Gargano def. Burch & Ryzin
It’s good to see some fresh faces on the show. Also, every time Ciampa and Gargano are in the ring, we should feel lucky to be able to see that.
I have to say Ryzin is one funny name. Taking a pun as you wrestling alias is hilarious and bold. I like that. I’d like to see more of this Ryzin character now.
The WWE might want to have Ciampa and Gargano as a team. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, if it will allow them to climb the ladder. However, they are meant to fly solo in the long run.
Nia Jax def. Bayley
This looked exactly like Nia and Bayley’s match at Takeover. Nia simply overpowered Bayley at every step. Jax had the luxury of taking the time to stroll around the ring, thinking what to do next, just because she could practically do anything she wanted to.
Bayley tried the well-know “take the giant’s feet out and fly for maximum effect” tactic and it almost paid off but it’s time for Nia’s push.
I’m hyped about Nia Jax vs. Asuka. Asuka is not your typical competitor. She’s stronger than she looks, so it will be interesting to watch.
