The ladies rearrange the top of the NXT Women’s Division. Shinsuke Nakamura and Finn Balor prepare for the clash of legends. And the NXT Tag Team Division gets heated. That and much more! Let’s talk NXT!
Alexa Bliss def. Carmella
This match was near perfect. The flow of action in the ring and the character build-up through in-ring psychology were spot on.
The only thing I could note as a negative is that there’s a bit too much screaming involved in Carmella’s character and I find it annoying but that’s just my personal taste.
On a side note, since when is the Sparkle Splash called the Twisted Bliss? I must have missed something.
Both Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura had short backstage interviews talking about their friendship. Because of the language issue, I was rather intrigued to hear Shinsuke speak a bit longer than the usual.
It was very interesting because Shinsuke seemed out of character; he was much calmer and friendlier. His English isn’t great but I’m very happy with what I heard. He needs a bit more time but he’ll do well.
Andrade Cien Almas def. Noah Potjes
Cien just isn’t working for the NXT crowd. He doesn’t really get any cheers. In fact, he’s more likely to get booed.
This might have something to do with Cien having debuted against the crowd’s favourite – Tye Dillinger. Or it’s simply because he’s too cocky and gives off a heel vibe.
I wonder how I’m supposed to take a guy as a face when he comes out in stripper clothing. Cien’s entrance gear screams heel, as well.
Gargano & Ciampa def. The Hype Bros
This match was way better than what I expected. With two face team squaring off, the crowd still sided with Gargano and Ciampa.
I thought that after Gargano pulled Mojo out of the ring, Ciampa was going to steal it but the match kept going for another several minutes and had a very satisfying closing exchange.
Then the temperature got higher. American Alpha showed up after the match and as angry as they were I thought they were going to attack Gargano & Ciampa, regardless of their face status. The tension in their delivery was amazing.
The Revival delivered a perfect heel promo. They sound far more confident in their jokes that the Club do. That’s why Dash and Dawson work so much better as heels than them.
Regal was bound to show up with everyone, talking as if he wasn’t in charge. The two out of three falls match will be a pleasure to watch.
The Authors of Pain ambushed American Alpha and laid waste to both them and Gargano and Ciampa. Yet, I still don’t feel them.
A team like the Authors of Pain cannot last. Their gimmick is based on being unbeatable and works only until their first loss. If they have nothing else to offer, The Authors of Pain will have only their 15 minutes of fame.
