WWE RAW – Review, Highlights & Analysis From 12/09/2016

On last night’s episode of RAW, Mick Foley had his hands full with Rollins and Owens, who simply could not resist pushing each other’s buttons. The tensions were also high in the Women’s Division. That and much more! Let’s talk RAW!

Mick Foley/ Charlotte/ Dana Brooke/ Sasha Banks/ Bayley

The crowd wanted Bayley in this so badly that it almost sounded like they cheered her over Sasha.

The relationship between Charlotte and Dana is being booked badly. If they keep turning on each other and then reconciling on the same episode, no one will care about it anymore.

Having Sasha work her position into the title picture once again is not a bad idea. After all, she is a face and things are meant to be difficult for her.

Sasha Banks def. Bayley & Dana Brooke

The match was alright but nothing exciting. I honestly expected more from it. Dana was too slow and just looked clumsy, in comparison with the other two women in the ring.

The ending was sloppy too. Sasha’s shoulders were on the mat, as much as Bayley’s, so this should not have been considered a clean victory.

Bo Dallas def. ???

Bo’s dark poetry was supposed to be intimidating but it only made me think of Bo Rida and I could only laugh. The crowd, cheering Bo’s jobber on, was also hilarious.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Bo has a lot of potential but it will take a lot of work for people to actually start taking him seriously again. His gear is not helping.

The Highlight Reel

This was yet another segment that was meant to be serious but made me laugh. The promos were good and the roasting was on but when you think about it, it all comes down to two grown men, arguing over Kevin Owens. This just sounds like a comic love triangle.

Then again, there’s no doubt that wrestling-wise this feud will be gold.

Cesaro def. Sheamus

Cesaro is now cheating to beat Sheamus. This feud could not get any worse. It was boring before. Now it’s simply ruining the characters involved, too.

Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox

This was Nia’s first real match and she nailed it. Having her spear a proper superstar though the barricade made her look strong. No amount of squashed jobbers can accomplish that.

Anderson & Gallows def. The New Day

I have to agree with the New Day, I’d take their ridiculous promos over the Old Day sketch any day.

I love seeing Xavier Woods in the ring. He’s so quick and agile. It’s a shame that he only gets to wrestle when he’s about to be pinned.

I was all over the idea of Gallows and Anderson, ending New Day’s reign. I still think it will happen. However, the more the rivalry goes on, the more I lose interest in Gallows and Anderson. This “funny” gimmick of theirs isn’t a good idea.

Jinder Mahal def. Jack Swagger

What was that? Jinder Mahal, preaching peace and squashing Jack Swagger? First of all, no one buys Jinder, or his new gimmick. Second, how low has Swagger fallen to have to lose to jobbers?

Tom mentioned Swagger’s contract expiring soon. I wonder if this is going to be a storyline that will get him to eventually rebuild himself, or it will just lead to a disgraceful end of his WWE journey.

Epico def. Enzo Amore

Good booking! We are now finally starting to see what Primo and Epico’s gimmick actually is. They are conmen and they cheat to win in every aspect of life. Evidently, their dirty ways worked against Enzo and Cass twice.

I like the idea of building Epico and Primo. They’ll lose the feud in the end but at least we’ll know who they are.

Kevin Owens def. Roman Reigns

That was a complex match and there was no way that it was ever going to end clean, with all the people involved.

First of all, I have to say that the match itself was brilliant at all stages. Reigns didn’t have his usual size advantage and that changed the game entirely. I haven’t enjoyed a Reigns match that much in a while. Great work from Owens!

Seth Rollins isn’t a face yet. He does it all for himself. It just happens so that he has beef with a heel. However, he’ll turn slowly but surely. The treatment of the higher-ups will drive him there.

Rusev’s interference was to be expected but all he truly did last night was sign his own death sentence. Reigns will become the US Champ at Clash of Champions.
