WWE NXT – Review, Highlights & Analysis From 22/06/2016

Oney Lorcan def. Tye Dillinger

It’s always bad when a superstar says they want to make it up and prove themselves. For some reason, it always leads to a losing streak. Tye Dillinger was not an exception to the rule.

When Lorcan taunted Dillinger with the 10 sign, the fans booed him out of the building. I hope this finally leads to a big victory and an even bigger pay-off for Tye but I doubt it.The crowd was behind him, as ususal but the WWE seems not to be convinced about his potential.

If nothing changes, there are two possible ways to go from here. Either Tye keeps losing and decides to “quit”, going to the main roster, or he decides it’s time for change and tries out a different gimmick. The second scenario makes me think of Bull Dempsey and Bull Fit, so it absolutely makes me shiver.

No Way Jose/ Austin Aries

No Way Jose dealt with some unknown jobber quickly and then waited for Austin Aries to appear.

When Austin started dancing and it took him so long to turn on Jose, I started to worry that someone backstage had lost their mind and had decided to make him face again through this. Thankfully, Austin finally snapped and gave Jose the beating we all wanted to see.

Before last night I had almost forgotten about the existence of No Way Jose. His character is bad and his in-ring style is unimpressive. If he ends up beating Austin Aries, it would be a travesty.

Bayley def. Deonna Purazzo

Bayley made her TV in-ring return. It was nothing special, just an average match. However, the atmosphere was great. Just seeing Bayley, made the NXT crowd happy. She’s the icon of the women’s division in NXT.

I don’t understand why Bayley still is on NXT. There’s nothing more for her there. She’s done her part, climbed the ladder and now she’s stuck. Maybe once Sasha beats Charlotte for the title, Bayley will be called up to feud with her.

Nia Jax def. Liv Tylor

Nia Jax simply squashed Liv and left. The only thing to note here is that Nia’s power bomb is a much more impressive finisher than her leg drop.

Shinsuke Nakamura def. Buddy Murphy

Shinsuke toyed with Buddy Murphy, teased him and them destroyed him with shots that echoed all around the place.

Shinsuke’s psycho smile made the match. The crowd loved it. There’s not a single star on NXT more charismatic than Shinsuke right now. The only problem is that when he spoke in Regal’s office, I barely understood anything. That concerns me.

I don’t understand Blake and Murphy’s split. They have no future as singles competitors. Same music, same clothes – if I hadn’t watched the segment in Regal’s office, I wouldn’t have known that Murphy isn’t in a team any more.
